Raleigh Hills Little League Families,
As you all know, our Spring season is on hold due to the Covid-19 outbreak. About a month ago, we suspended all league activities per direction from Little League international, with a hopeful restart date of May 11th. Since the initial suspension, we have been staying in close contact with Little League, Beaverton School District, and Tualatin Hills Parks and Rec District to try to gauge when fields might be reopened so that we can plan for a safe return to play.
Recently the decision was made to close schools for the remainder of the school year. Along with that came the closure of THPRD and BSD fields until mid-late June. As all Raleigh Hills Little League teams practice on BSD fields, and most of our games are played on the same fields, any start of our "Spring" season would be postponed until that time.
With that in mind, the RHLL board is looking at the possibility of holding a Summer season that would likely run through August. We should still have access to play at Alpenrose in the summer in addition to the school and THPRD fields. Please keep an eye out for an email from your Spring coach with some questions about your desire/ability to play a summer schedule, along with some resources to help keep your player engaged/excited for baseball while at home. If you have players registered for T-ball, A, or AA, chances are that you have not heard from your coach until now as activities were suspended prior to formal team announcements.
We understand that a summer season is not a possibility for all players/families, but we are hopeful that enough of you will be able to participate to make a summer season feasible. Once we have enough feedback from our families and we have a feel for the possibility of a summer season, we will open up an opt-out period for families that are not able to play the summer to discuss refund options for Spring registration. Those that are able to play will not need to re-register for Summer, we will simply roll spring registration into summer.
Family Action Items:
- Respond to coach's upcoming email regarding Summer Season availability.
- Keep your players excited/engaged with baseball.
- Once the league announces a decision on a Summer Season, let the league know if you are not able to participate.
Thank you all for bearing with us during this pandemic. We are excited for the return of baseball, whenever that happens, and we will be ready to make the experience a great one when the time comes.
